The stack crashes you
Windows puts a lot of “security” in the kernel. When that code is wrong, it is not a tab that failed. It is a blue screen on every desk that got the update. July 2024 made that famous. It will happen again because the architecture invites it.
Then there is the treadmill. Patch Tuesday. Out-of-band fixes for bugs already in the wild. Reboot the company for someone else’s kernel. Miss a week and you are the incident.
Linux does not make you immune. A bad package can still hurt. What it does not do is make a third-party driver on the boot path the default way you buy safety.
If the work is mail, docs, and chat in a browser, you can leave that treadmill. We will say no if you still need Adobe, Intune, or a Windows app the business runs on.
