Process
Four steps. No mystery reboot.
1. We look at the actual desks
What they open. What they print. What cannot leave Windows. If Adobe, Intune, or a line-of-business app owns the day, we say no.
2. We image a standard
Ubuntu LTS by default. Same image for the fleet. Printers, backup, browser work. One machine first, then the rest.
3. We cut over in daylight
Not a holiday weekend surprise. Hypercare after. If a desk fails, we are the pager, not a forum thread.
4. We keep them
Patches, image refresh, backup check. You get one number for the Linux desks. We are not replacing your accountant’s Windows box if it still has to exist.
